Wariyapola girl arrested


Twenty one-year-old Thilini Amalka, who is alleged to have slapped a youth at the Wariyapola Bus Terminal recently had been arrested by the Wariyapola Police this morning, Police Media Unit said.

Police said she was accompanied by her lawyer.

They said the youth had lodged a complaint with the Wariyapola Police a few days ago and that he was still at the Wariyapola Hospital undergoing medical treatment.

She had been produced before the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) and to be produced before the Wariyapola Magistrate Court tomorrow.

She is currently detained at the Wariyapola police until she is produced before the magistrate court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Chandra Kumara alias Selva who was slapped by the girl at the Wariyapola bus stand was admitted to the Wariyapola hospital on Monday after complaining of a hearing problem in one of his ears and was later transferred to Kurunegala Hospital for further examination.

He has now been transferred to the Wariyapola Hospital after examinations.
