Google has announced its own $99 Android-powered console, the Nexus Player.Similar to the $99 Amazon Fire TV, the micro-sized box will let you stream media and play games.

It boasts an Intel Atom 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 8GB storage, 1GB of RAM and a new Android TV operating system built for set-top boxes. The console also comes with a remote that contains a microphone for voice controls.

You can also buy a separate Nexus Player GamePad, priced $39, which looks like a cross between an Xbox One pad and the DualShock 4.Apps available will include Netflix, YouTube, Dailymotion, Crackle and Hulu Plus.

There's no word yet on a UK release for the console, but North American pre-orders will open tomorrow, 17th October, for a full launch on 3rd November.

Pirate adventure Raven's Cry release date set back to November

Raven's Cry - the pirate-themed open-world action RPG by Two Worlds 2 developer Reality Pump Studios - has been delayed until 27th November, where it will launch on PC, Mac and Linux.

It was originally set for a 14th October launch. Well, actually it was initially scheduled for a 2012 release. As such, it might look a little behind the times, but you can't accuse it of ripping off Assassin's Creed 4 now, can you?
Like Ubisoft's series, Raven's Cry will contain third-person action and real-time naval battles, but unlike Assassin's Creed, TopWare's ambitious adventure will feature moral choices and more RPG elements like perks and crew management.

The developer may have even taken a dig at Black Flag in its description of its naval combat. "Raven's Cry is more interested in realism than hand-holding, so you'll find no beams of light showing your cannon-ball trajectory, nor will an auto aim assist you in precision shots to take out your enemies masts," the developer noted on its Steam page.

Console ports of Raven's Cry on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 are expected to ship in early 2015 along with retail editions of the computer version.

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell release date tweaked Elected for release one week earlier

Saints Row 4 standalone expansion Gat out of Hell will now launch a week earlier than planned - on 23rd January 2015.

That's according to a new post from developer Volition over on the EU PlayStation blog, which also reveals seven sin-themed weapons, one for each of the game's seven weapon slots.

Gat out of Hell is due for release on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but will also come with the new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of Saints Row 4 as part of the Saints Row 4: Re-Elected bundle.

The Crew will let players adjust their frame-rate on PC

Ubisoft's upcoming open-world racing game The Crew will be 30 frames per second on PS4 and Xbox One, but its developer has said that it's not going to stop PC users from adjusting the frame-rate based on their hardware - as many did with the beta that came with an artificial 30 fps lock.

"Ultimately the performance and the frame-rate will be down to the player's hardware," said The Crew's lead designer Serkan Hassan in an interview with TechRadar. "A few people in the closed beta found ways of unlocking the frame-rate. My understanding at this moment is that we'll be allowing players to do that come the full version as well, unless some other issue comes to light which would block that in any way."

Ubisoft has previously stated that it's aiming for 60 fps on the game's PC version and while it's hesitant to promise it, it sounds like the developer's not going to get in the way of this if your kit can handle it.The Crew is now due worldwide on 2nd December for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Xbox 360.
