On one of her trips to her Cuba, the idea for Chilean born photographer Claudia Gonzalez's next project materialized.
Understanding the hardships that those in the LGBT community face — 90 percent of all transgendered people, specifically, experience a form of harrassment — she wanted to share their stories, and show that they're just as human as the rest of us.



"This idea was accompanied by a sense of obligation and responsibility to these people," she wrote in a statement to A+.


And so her series "REASSIGN" was born. Her images depict side-by-side photos of her transgender subjects before and after their transition to the opposite sex with an important goal: to give the world a glimpse and basic understanding of their lives.


"REASSIGN is concerned with the respect and dignity for every human being," she wrote to A+.
