IT salaries in Sri Lanka

Machan the thing is most industry people reommend APIIT over UCSC. I have talked with few CEO's of various software companies(Virtusa even). They all recommended apiit over UCSC.

I would rather not name them bro I asked from 3 company CEO's. Anyway I heard Virtusa is not good nowadays.. I don't personally know them. But through my friends and family contacts I asked. Since I have already started APIIT degree they all recommended staying there. But a guy from WSO2 said its better to go to UCSC... But some APIIT graduates are saying to go to UCSC.. I have enough Z to get into UCSC Computing Science and UOM IT. I have no idea what to do... Different people are saying different things..

Software Engineer salary for fresh graduate university students in WSO2?

Start with probation of 6 months (3 months training) - 108 000 LKR
after 6 month - 120 000 (I`m not sure all of get this amount , its vary from performance )

I really don't think any other person except you is going/staying institute such as apiit when you able to get into ucsc or mora..
Im not gonna compare anyother institute over state unis.
But why spending money?

I got until April or something to make a decision bro(Or whenever they are releasing cutoff marks)... Till den I am asking people around... Some people say where u get the degree doesnt matter.. Some say APIIT, IIT is better.. Some say UCSC is better.. But what most of them said in common is that its the work you do that matters not where you get the degree..

BTW if I stay at APIIT I can get graduate one year before. Dont know weather its that important.

There is a higher chance for get a job in a company like wso2, MIT if you go to a a state..

In the industry, most companies consider both unis are equally, but salary wise UCSC CS Special Graduates (4th Year) gets nearly UOM CSE level.
UCSC CS Syllabus seems better than UOM IT, it filled with much Computer Science related subjects but UOM IT Syllabus seems little lean in to BA side, but again Both are equally recognised, personally i like UCSC.

Machan podi advice ekak denna. I did ALz last year and started doing Software Engineering at APIIT on the october intake. So when the results came I got 1A and 2Bs in Maths stream. I have enough Z score to get into UCSC computing science or UOM IT. Whats the best option? To stay in APIIT or?

  Who followed APIIT degree program and now interviewing their classmates who followed UoM CSE degree.

• 
  Who followed IT degree in UoM and got higher offers than some CSE people, before graduation.

If you are talented no mater where you came from. But I must say, people in state universities, specially in Mora work harder. If you go there you should and will work harder. One can beat intelligent people and one can beat hard workers. But it is really difficult to beat intelligent people who work harder. Mora is a place full of hardest working most intelligent people in the country. Join Mora.

For Computer Science & Engineering and Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering Fresh graduates

MIT (Software Engineer) - 65000/-

Virtusa (Software Engineer) - 60000/- to 75000/-

Cambio (Software Engineer) - 70000/-

WSO2 (Software Engineer) - 70000/- (the batch top from the CSE in this year is getting 95000/-)

Codegen (Software Engineer) - 70000/- to 80000/-

Brandix (ERP Consultant) - 55000/- (SLIIT and UCSC people as Developers same salary)

Creative Solutions (Software Engineer) - 65000/- to 70000/-
IFS (Software Engineer) - 50000/-


For MIT and WSO2 the degree you have got does not mean much but they need good project works like GSOC. And they do not test your coding ability but the problem solving ability. No experience required.

The virtusa is not a good company to work because they discriminate you based on your degree and GPA. (i.e SLIIT and UCSC people they are hiring as Associate Software Engineers and salary is 35000/-)

If you think of your freedom rather than salary then IFS is a better choice because they never keep u after 5.00pm for any reason....

If u are competent the educational qualifications do not matter much in IT field and above are the salaries u are going to get as a fresh graduate passing out from the uni.....
