Below is a summary of what has happened so far:
    1. Interim budget was read in the parliament on the 29th of January
    2. Proposal to abolish the depreciation allowance for hybrid vehicles
    3. Increase the tax rate for hybrid cars from 57.5% to 92%
    4. Above increase will have a massive impact on the taxes of hybrid vehicles
    5. Individuals who have already opened LCs formed a group to request a concession from the minister of finance
    6. Above group gathered at the finance ministry and met with ministry officials
    7. A request letter was handed over to the minister through his secretary
    8. Participants were informed that a concession will be considered, however no firm commitment was given by the officials
    9. An appointment was given for the 11th of February for the representatives of the group to discuss this matter with the finance minister

Please do not clear your vehicle until a final decision is given, if you do so you will not be able to get a concession even if there is a subsequent concession.

And if the government disagree to to give you guys a concession you will have to pay a hefty amount to customs + tax for not clearing your vehicle in time.

Yes. But at least we have to give a try.

Also I think it's going to be 1200 per day as I heard.

Afaik if you didn't clear your vehicle within 7 days you have to pay Demurrage of 15,000 per day. I'm not quite sure about it. But I've heard this.

This is what I got to know. We are getting 7 working days for the clearance,

    If we delay further;
    1 week damages - LKR 3000
    2 week damages - LKR 10000
    3 week damages - LKR 15000
    4 week damages - LKR 25000

This is very unfair to future buyers then. My friend bought an Maruti Alto 800, after 2 days the budget they said they will reduce the tax and bring the price to 14,98,000.00 My friend paid 18,50,000.00

So technically my friend should also get a concession, I think an concession should be given but not an total concession itself.

This is downright bad luck machan.
Wait and see how existing hybrid owners increase their resell prices.
They did once, and now again. 2007 models would cost some body parts now. It's the 1994 fb 15 running o the streets even today situation once again.
