HenryL I am also a bit puzzled by this, my kids were also born here, they wouldn't know elakiri if it hit them in the face. They can barely speak Sinhalese leave alone read and write. I am just interested to know how you communicate so well in Sinhalese.

Well back in the day in late 80s things were lot different you know that right. I know quite a few people who were born here but then due to various reasons they went to SL and lived number of years there and came back here to go to high school. my story isn't far from that

Good on you, the problem with a lot of the new comers is they don't stand up for their rights. They bow down to the whites specially the Indians. If you give them back as fast as they can dish out then they back off.
