:love:Bournemouth 1-3 Manchester United: Rooney & Ibrahimovic score in comfortable win

    zlatan-ibrahimovic-manchester-united-bournemouth_xq46z348kocl18438cvvvf9s4.jpg

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored on his Premier League debut as Jose Mourinho's Manchester United beat Bournemouth 3-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The former Sweden captain, who netted the winner on his first competitive outing in the Community Shield, drilled in a superb low shot from distance to add to goals from Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney.

United, who also handed a first Premier League start to Eric Bailly, had found it difficult to gain control on a ground where they suffered a 2-1 defeat last season before surprise starter Mata pounced on an error from Simon Francis.

Artur Boruc twice made good saves to keep United at bay, but Rooney doubled the visitors' lead just before the hour mark as he steered Anthony Martial's miscued volley into the corner.

Ibrahimovic blasted in United's third to set Mourinho on course for the ideal start to his first league campaign at Old Trafford, although Adam Smith's fine 69th-minute strike gave Bournemouth some hope of a comeback.

But United saw out the closing stages to move top of the table, as Ibrahimovic – who has now scored on his debut in the Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Premier League – celebrated in front of the visiting fans.

United, without suspended world-record signing Paul Pogba, struggled for any real control to begin with as Bournemouth pressed and kept possession well, though Callum Wilson fired the home side's best early opening high and wide.

Anthony Martial flashed a shot wide of Artur Boruc's left-hand post, before the Bournemouth goalkeeper saved low from Rooney's first-time effort after United's first good passage of play involving Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia.

Bournemouth continued to look the more likely, but it was United who broke the deadlock five minutes before the break thanks to some calamitous defending from the home side.

Francis' poor backpass was pounced on by Mata and though his tame finish was blocked by Boruc, the ball rebounded off the legs of Francis and allowed United's No.8 a simple tap-in five minutes before half-time.

Boruc denied United a second shortly after the break, standing up well to block Rooney's effort after Ibrahimovic had lofted the ball over the top of the Bournemouth defence.

But the Pole could do nothing to prevent the deficit increasing just before the hour, when Martial's volley from 12 yards was scuffed towards Rooney and the captain turned a header beyond the reach of Boruc's right hand.

With the Vitality Stadium suddenly at a low ebb, Ibrahimovic sent the travelling supporters into raptures, arrowing a fine effort into Boruc's bottom-right corner from 25 yards just a few moments after he had been thwarted from a free-kick.

Bournemouth seized a lifeline with their first effort on target as Smith finished high past De Gea from 12 yards after Lewis Grabban's clever reverse pass into the area.

De Gea was forced into a couple of excellent stoppage-time saves to maintain United's two-goal cushion as Mourinho's men made an early statement of intent.

De Boer: Blind move unlikely but we'll see

    daley-blind-cropped_15syjvi80pola1s1d75tyfu6v8.jpg

Inter coach Frank de Boer has admitted he is a keen admirer of Daley Blind, but believes there is little chance the Manchester United defender will switch clubs this transfer window.

De Boer and Blind, contracted to United until June 2018. worked together at Ajax and reports suggest the newly appointed Inter boss is keen to lure his compatriot away from Old Trafford.

However, a transfer seems very much unlikely as things stand, though the coach would not rule it out completely."I like him as a player for sure, he's fantastic," De Boer was quoted as saying by Gazzetta World.

"He is very happy at Manchester United, though, and played in the Community Shield. "I know his situation and I think he's very happy and playing with confidence, but we'll see in the future.

"Of course, any of my ex-players from Ajax are guys I like to keep an eye on and watch them very closely. I do the same with [Christian] Eriksen, [Toby]Alderweireld, all of those guys. I like to follow them and I do the same with Daley."

Inter are also being linked with a move for Sporting midfielder Joao Mario and De Boer has hinted there could be developments soon regarding the Portugal international."He's a European champion," De Boer added."He is an interesting player to a lot of teams and for Inter, that's no different. We will see in the coming days what happens.

"Firstly, I do have to see how the group is and then I'll make a choice about whether or not we really need players in the squad. Now I can make real judgements about the players.

"We will have to wait and see and then make choices."

    cristiano-ronaldo_1wefcgjffiwtx14tzttezujoxg.jpg

UFC star Conor McGregor has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed a new deal with Real Madrid.

The Portuguese star is currently tied to the capital club until 2018, but reports in Spain have stated that he is set to put pen to paper over a new deal after being crowned a European champion with both club and country this year.

And it seems the 31-year-old has already committed his future to the Champions League winners and passed the news onto his friend McGregor.

When asked if he could overtake Ronaldo in the Forbes rich list any time soon, McGregor told an audience at a UFC event: "Give me next year. I'll climb that Forbes list and challenge him for the No.1 spot.

"He's up there and he said he's just signed a new deal with Real Madrid so it's going to be tough."

Rooney: I have nothing to prove to Jose Mourinho

    3583642_heroa.jpg

Wayne Rooney was defiant after scoring in Manchester United's 3-1 win over Bournemouth, insisting that he does not have to prove himself to anyone.

Rooney scored the second goal for Jose Mourinho's side, with Juan Mata getting the opener and Zlatan Ibrahimovic rounding things off on the South Coast.

But, speaking after the match, the Man United captain dismissed the idea that he had to prove himself to the new manager, suggesting that, if he is played in an advanced role, he will always score goals.

"I've nothing to prove to anyone," Rooney told Sky Sports.

"I've played this game a long time, I believe in my own ability, I'm confident and I think I'm good enough to play, and if I play where I played today then I'll score goals."

Rooney was speaking alongside Ibrahimovic, who insisted that despite getting on the scoresheet himself, a victory for the team was the most important thing.

"The team did good. It was a difficult game. The first half we weren't 100 per cent but second half became more easier, more space, and we could play more our game," the Swedish striker said, also speaking to Sky Sports.

"We scored the second and the third one, so it was a good game and it was important to start good."

Zlatan plays down latest debut goal: The Premier League will not be easy

    zlatan-ibrahimovic-cropped_1ltxehh45mug61bogihs57godp.jpg

Zlatan Ibrahimovic admits that he has not found it easy to adapt to life in the Premier League despite scoring on his debut in the competition for Manchester United on Sunday.

The 34-year-old fired in from 25 yards to cap United's 3-1 win away to Bournemouth, following a first-half finish from Juan Mata and a header from Wayne Rooney.

Ibrahimovic has now scored on his debut in Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1, the Champions League and England's top flight, while he has two goals in just two competitive matches for Jose Mourinho's side. But the experienced forward says he was simply happy to secure a win as he continues to settle into life at United.

"It was a difficult game," he told Sky Sports. "We weren't 100 per cent in the first half, we couldn't play our game, but we had more space in the second half and could play our game. But it was important to start good."

When asked for his view on his first league game, he said: "It's not easy. A new environment, new stadiums, clubs, team-mates. I just play my game."I try to do my job and help my team-mates. The first objective is to win, and it's also good if I score. But it's the same importance whoever scores."

United captain Rooney feels Ibrahimovic's arrival has marked a statement of intent from the club this year, though he insists he does not feel as though his place is under threat."It's always important to win your first game," he added. "We looked dangerous on the counter-attack and created chances.

"We have made a real statement bringing in four great signings and the new manager. There is a lot of excitement from ourselves and the fans."I've not had to prove anything to anyone. I've been playing a long time. I believe I'm good enough to play."

Dybala keen to form attacking trident with Higuain and Mandzukic

    dybala-mandzukic-cropped_pmig8b0vxuvj149mx3o8j1l36.jpg

Paulo Dybala is keen to form an attacking trident with Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic at Juventus in 2016-17.The former Palermo star often featured alongside Mandzukic up front last term, but the Croatia international is at risk of losing his starting berth following the arrival of Higuain for €90 million.

Nevertheless, Dybala is hopeful head coach Massimiliano Allegri will play all three at the same time.

"I think we're capable of playing as a front three, it's just a question of working at it on the training ground," Dybala told reporters."Mario and Gonzalo are two great strikers who are always lurking in the right areas and create space for those around them.

"It's up to the boss to decide who gets the nod."I feel the same as I did last year. I came here to win and I want to keep doing so. I feel in good shape and we'll work as hard as we can to get ready for the start of Serie A."

Conte: Defeats give me sleepless nights

    hd-antonio-conte-chelsea_1a9b2254cdsoc1czebwr4hv6ry.jpg

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed defeats often prevent him from falling asleep at night as he stays awake seeking reasons for the result, while he does not get much rest ahead of games either.

The former Italy boss is set to make his Premier League debut in charge of the Stamford Bridge side on Monday when they take on West Ham and he will be hoping to get the 2016-17 campaign off to a winning start."Before the games, usually I don't sleep a lot," Conte told the official Chelsea website.

"I sleep for two, three, four hours. When I wake up I start to think about the game, the situation, and often I have a good idea on a tactical aspect in the first hours of the morning.

"After the game, when I win I sleep, but when I don't win it's very difficult for me. In the middle of the night I think 'what is the reason we lost?'"Sometimes I watch the match very quickly because I want to find an answer. Why? Where is the situation that creates more difficulties? Which is the player that creates more difficulties? Was our tactical plan good or not good?"I need to have the answer quickly."

Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool: Coutinho inspires Klopp's men to thrilling win

    3584392_heroa.jpg

Liverpool were forced to hold off a resurgent Arsenal as Jurgen Klopp's men clung on to begin their 2016-17 Premier League season with an enthralling 4-3 victory at Emirates Stadium on Sunday. In a remarkable encounter, Liverpool fell behind as Theo Walcott, who had missed a penalty a minute earlier, gave Arsenal a deserved lead.

But Philippe Coutinho - scorer of a stunning winner at Stoke City on the opening weekend of last season - repeated the feat with an unstoppable free-kick in first-half stoppage time.Buoyed by that equaliser, Liverpool tore into their hosts after the break and scored three times in the first 18 minutes.

Adam Lallana put them ahead with a fine piece of control and a finish to match, before Coutinho doubled his tally by applying the finishing touch to Nathaniel Clyne's delivery.

Along with Ragnar Klavan and Georginio Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane was making his competitive Liverpool bow and the Senegalese marked the occasion with a sensational solo goal, finished off with a rasping drive into the top corner.

The home side did pull one back almost immediately through substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - another virtuoso effort to rival that of Mane - before Liverpool saw Coutinho hobble from the field.

With 15 minutes remaining, Calum Chambers' header set Liverpool nerves jangling further, but Klopp's men held on to get their campaign off to a victorious, if not altogether convincing, start.

Arsenal had the better of the opening exchanges and a sharp seventh-minute combination between Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey culminated in the latter prodding straight into the arms of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. The Gunners were ahead in the 31st minute, but only after Walcott had wasted a chance from the penalty spot.

Alberto Moreno's clumsy challenge inside the box brought down the England forward, who then saw his subsequent kick saved by Mignolet diving to his right.
But the respite was brief for Liverpool as Francis Coquelin won the ball back and, with Moreno caught upfield, Alex Iwobi played Walcott into the vacated space and his low strike was unerring in creeping inside the left-hand upright.Liverpool reached half-time level, however.

Arsenal debutant Rob Holding was adjudged to have fouled Coutinho, who sent a stunning 30-yard free-kick beyond Petr Cech into the top-left corner. And the visitors picked up where they left off at the start of the second half.

Liverpool forged ahead when Coutinho fed Wijnaldum and his lofted pass across the area was chested down by Lallana, who thumped a convincing finish past Cech from a tight angle.Seven minutes later, a period of patient possession ended in Clyne sending in a low cross for Coutinho to steer expertly home with his left foot.

Things got even better for Liverpool in the 63rd minute as Mane embarked on an ambitious run down the right before wriggling between Chambers and Nacho Monreal and firing high into the net with his left foot.

Oxlade-Chamberlain responded in kind, bursting past Clyne and Jordan Henderson before his shot took a deflection off Dejan Lovren and deceived Mignolet, and the deficit was back to one when Chambers glanced in Santi Cazorla's set-piece.

Arsene Wenger's introduction of new signing Granit Xhaka at 4-2 down failed to have much of an impact, and Liverpool withstood late pressure to edge an early contender for game of the season, sparking a chorus of boos around the Emirates.

Januzaj: Moyes key to Sunderland move

    adnan-januzaj-premier-league-man-city-v-sunderland_1f0kbllux6obp1pigaayy75txz.jpg

Adnan Januzaj says the presence of David Moyes was key to his decision to leave Manchester United for Sunderland on a one-year loan deal.

The 21-year-old made his United debut under Moyes during the 2013-14 campaign, but failed to secure regular first-team football under Louis van Gaal in the following seasons.

Januzaj, who previously spent time on loan at Borussia Dortmund, was deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho as well and is now looking to get his career back on track at Sunderland."Moyes was key to me coming here and I appreciate the opportunity because I want to show people what I can do," Januzaj told the club's official website.

"My job is to score goals and assist goals. The fans come to the stadium to enjoy football and watch players that make things happen, so I want to be one of those players and make them happy."

Januzaj made his Sunderland debut in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City and he feels they gave a good account of themselves against one of the title favourites."It was an unlucky game for us because we played well and worked hard for each other," he added.

"It was a great feeling to play, especially against such a big club, and although it was not easy I think we did really well."
