Job tasks
o Evaluating company requirements and develop methodology to define systems.
o Provide guidance and support on design development.
o Monitoring the Core Banking system [E-finance] and support/advice to staff on system related issues.
o Handling Core Banking system administration Functions.
o Querying core banking database for generate reports on management requirements.
o Designing test case and testing new versions of the finance System.
o Training employees on the finance system.
o Managing and reporting [incident and priority issue list] issues to software vendor.
o Carry out the System Day End Process and backup and restore.
o Developing and maintaining intranet and Internal Applications.

I think information security side will be a good area to master and my opinion is don't do your MSc in SLIIT.

mama danna mage yaaluwekuth MSc in Information Systems kala, u bank ekaka thanikarama MIS system eka develop karapu ekek. Dial eka specialized data warehousing patthe. U iwara kala MSc eka, dan visiting lecturing karanawa. Habai bank eken ain wela wena private non banking sector (IT) eke inne dan.

MSc in IS eke subject have data warehousing, big data, consultancy in business etc. Mamath karanne eka..

Because of lack of well-experienced lectures and lack of lab facilities. I asked about SLIIT MSc, from lab instructor, who works in SLIIT and he said that SLIIT isn't the best place to do masters. I believe, if you really want to do your MSc here in Sri Lanka, then chose Colombo or Mora but I think its better if you can go abroad, and do your masters on well known top-ranked University.

According to my knowledge, there is no SHU MSc degree in SLIIT and the next year's SHU BSc degree will be the last SHU degree


But if you really want to do, do it. It's up to you.

There is MSc in IM, its SHU affiliated i think, yeah the labs are not the best place and they do ask MSc students to bring their own laptops, and many do the practicals in their own machines.. talking from experience.

We did Data warehousing and Big Data in our personal laptops, its upto the student to decide if they want to leave the knowledge only in the lab session
