Lankava athulata geneddi tax gahanavada??

This is a grey area... Sometimes what's left from your allowance from the previous visit can be applied.
I was working overseas for many years and used to visit SriLanka every 5 months for 5 week holiday. One day a customs officer at the airport told me that technically I cannot be even classed as a non-resident - as I have not been outside SriLanka continuously for more than 365 days!
I have bought many things at the airport, but I go to a customs officer first and have a chat. They have always allowed me to buy whatever. I have had no trouble at all.
Bringing in a 49' TV is different, if you are taxed you do have a problem. Don't you guys have friends who return after one year?

There is a rule (as I remember) over 42” tvs cannot import personally through tax exemption. Please check.

Sorry I do not know an exact answer... But up to 55" LCD can be brought in without a surcharge. (it was changed from 49' to 55") But if your sisters family is bringing it in after working there for three years probably they can explain and get away with it. Customs guys know who brings in to sell items. They do not unnecessarily harass a genuine case. There are so many SrilAnkans in Doha and someone should know. Or ask the Cargo shipping agent over there. These guys usually know about these things.

Mata thawama hoyaganda bari una 49" tv ekakata kiyak gahanavada kiyala hariyatama. so ma thawama kalpana karanava gannavada nadda kiayala.
Eke mehe price eka 103,000/- labai neda mehen ganna eka. Lankave ganan ne.
