    Sony Xperia 1

The Sony Xperia 1 is the Sony flagship for 2019. Being a Sony phone, it focuses mainly on media consumption, and that starts with the display. The Xperia 1 introduces 4K HDR OLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Sony calls it CinemaWide. It’s 6.5-inches in diagonal, and color accuracy is guaranteed by the Bravia TV technology and the mobile X1 engine. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. The same material is on the back, making the Xperia 1 IP65/IP68 certified.

The camera system on the back is a triple-lens setup comprised of three 12MP shooters. A wide (16mm), a standard (26mm), and a telephoto (35mm equiv.). The wide and the standard units both feature optical image stabilization. As usual, the imaging system is powered by Sony’s BIONZ X engine for mobile, which in case of the Xperia 1 introduces Eye AF. It’s basically an Auto-Focus which focuses on the eye-level. The front-facer is an 8MP unit and resides on the top bezel.

On the inside, the Xperia 1 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. There’s 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, all powered by a 3,330mAh battery and Android 9 Pie. Biometrics are handled by the side-mounted fingerprint scanner

Black, Purple, Gray, and White are the color options but only the first two will be available in the U.S., where it will arrive late Spring. Pricing information is not yet available.

    Sony Xperia 10

The Sony Xperia 10 is what the manufacturer calls part of its super mid-range line, together with its Plus sibling. It features a 21:9 Ultimate Wide display, granted, with Full HD+ resolution and in a 6-inch size. It runs on the octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The dual-camera setup on the back consists of a pair of 13MP and 5MP shooters, while the front-facer is an 8MP unit.

Biometrics are handled by an always-on fingerprint scanner embedded in the side power button, and a 2,870mAh battery keeps the phone running. Of course, this being a Sony phone, it comes with Sony’s High-Resolution Audio and LDAC for high quality audio playback. This comes in pair with Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE HX™), which basically upsamples compressed audio.

The Xperia 10 will set you back $349.99 starting March 18, with Android 9 Pie on-board. It will be available in Black, Silver Navy, and Pink, but only the first two colors will be available in the United States.

    Sony Xperia 10 Plus

The Sony Xperia 10 Plus takes it to a somewhat higher level. The display is a 6.5-inch panel with Full HD+ resolution, and the same 21:9 Ultimate Wide display, and the processor is an octa-core Snapdragon 636 chip. It comes in tandem with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

The camera system has been upgraded to a pair of 12MP + 8MP shooters with 2x optical zoom, while the front-facer remains the same 8MP unit. Fingerprint scanner is placed on the side, just like on the other phones in the line-up, and the battery has been boosted to 3,000mAh.

The Sony Xperia 10 Plus will be available in the U.S. on March 18 for $429.99 in Black and Silver. Other regions will get a Gold version as well. It ships with Android 9 Pie out of the box.
