    Whatever the experts and analysts said, the Libs won because of two issues. Border protection and green energy (renewables). Labour failed on both.

    Yes.. to an extent.. Also people probably got worried about the Franking credits, negative gearing changes & the talk about the death duties.

    I got fined for not voting at a council election which I didn't even know about. I wrote to them and explained that we didn't receive any information and didn't know that there was an election, but the greedy bastards rejected my excuse.

    today a friend was telling that he was asked to pay a fine for not voting when he was in the UK. he somehow got it cancelled but it cost more than double on IDD calls to deal with that.

    there are quite a few people either don't register to vote so they don't have to vote and there are some don't want to vote and just pay the fine.
