Dude you have to apply from here. You have to send the passport to India cz there's no UK embassy in Sri Lanka which issues Visas. It costs a lot and time.

Why did you book it through UK? and normally the ticket agent tells you about this situation... Cancel the ticket and get a refund./.

Friend of mine were in a same position couple of weeks ago. She was having a transit in the UK on her way to Oslo. Her air line has told her to get the UK transit visa and then she changed the route. At the end she flew through Dubai. There is a regulation to provide accommodation for the passengers who are having transit more than 8 hours (unless airline has less transit time options).
