අද දින මාගේ පියා මේ ලොව හැරගින් වසර 20ක් ගතවෙනවා ... අප අතහැර යන විට ඔහු වයසින් අවුරැදු 50 ක් විය. එදා අවසන් නොවෙන / අවසානක් පේන තෙක්මානෙක නොතාබුනු ඒ යුධ වාතාවරණය මැද මට ඇතිවූයේ මහත් දුකක් සමග කේන්තියක්. එහෙත් අද අවසන් වූ ඒ යුධ වාතාවරණයට පසු අප සියළු දෙනා මේ විඳින නිදහස මැද මට දැනෙන්නේ මගේ තාත්තා ගැන මහත් ආඩමිබරයක් .... මහත් ගෞරවයක් !!! You are my no1 hero and inspiration !!! -Bathiya

I read it in Malith Jayatilake’s book on Elephant Pass defeat. Bhatiya’s dad expired one or two months before that defeat according to my memory. As we know Elephant Pass battle was a major disaster for Sri Lankan Army. It was seen before months that the camp had been the target and this disaster was possible to prevent if correct decisions were taken. Yet, commanders risked others’ lives while Chandrika and Anurudda Ratwatte did political gambles. Finally the situation erupted to a position where no none knew what to do.
LTTE surrounded the camp and in the April 2000 Army gave an order to withdraw suddenly in the scorching heat where many died from dehydration and LTTE had the every possibility to kill.

Died - 5000+. While. , only 35

මලිත් ජයතිලකගේ අලිමංකඩ පොත සැහෙන කාලෙකට කලින් කියව්වා. එකේ සවිස්තරව තියනවා පියවරෙන් පියවර කතාව. වලක්වගන්න තිබ්බ නොනවතින රැල්ල, කොලඹ සිතල කාමර වල ඉදප පාලකයොයි වැරදි තිරනයි නිසා මහා විනාශයකින් ඉවර වෙච්ච හැටි.
ඒ වගේම ඔහු විස්තර කරනවා මුලතිව් බේස් එක ඇතුලු අනික් මරමස්තාන වැටුන හැටිත්. කොලඹ පාලනය අපේ කොල්ලොන්ව රන බිමේදි පාවලා දුන්නා.
