Yes you can. We (myself and wife) only had 2050 per month in early few months.
Not sure about close to city. In Clayton (about 13km from CBD) we were in 1 bed room apartment for 310 per week (1350 per month)

Sri lankan air line is one of the shittiest service providers in hospitality for local travelers I only flew once a long time ago and never again. those bitches treats u like shit.

I heard that therefore I have never flown and I'll never fly with them unless there's an unavoidable reason.
I use only Singapore or Qantas, but Singa is the best of these two IMO.

I can imagine that.. The fucking plane that I travelled from Colombo to Singapore like a leyland bus on Galle road.
That 4 hrs was like a nightmare. But the next 8 hrs in A380 was amazing. 
Still both companies use A380. Are they going to stop using that? The flight I booked on March is also an A380.
