This is the same quarantine strategy China used to defeat SARS. No new case of SARS has been reported since 2004 so I would say they know what they are doing.

afaik they have shared all available information on the virus with WHO and collaborating with them to find a cure. it's just that they don't release hourly media conferences like other countries do. I think chinese dont care about the truth as we liberal minded outsiders.

Lets hope so. I don't have evidence to prove otherwise. But I do have Chinese friends that work outside China. I contacted two of them who are Geneticists. They said it's far too naive anyone to believe the Chinese state news. They don't. So what can I say? If they themselves say it's total crap we got no choice.
I have been to China and there are some cities like Shanghai which are really superb. But others are very basic. Pollution is endemic. No wonder it's the ground zero for these pathogens.

That's correct. All others get their dirty work done in China. Remember they had to relocate a complete city after the water table got contaminated after extracting gold from dead circuit boards. It took years for them to admit it and relocate the entire city, with so many affected with heavy metal poisoning including the newborn.
About the virus, it's not what the Chinese outside China believe. One of these guys told me that even 10 years after the melamine debacle, still to this day, those who can afford get baby formula get from outside. They simply don't trust anything.
Also though I didn't post here there is genetic evidence that this virus was present possibly in October. Because of small sample sizes of the viral gene availability this is only a strong suspicion.
I simply don't trust them. There is more to it than we see on the surface.

I do believe they have shared all what they know about the virus and the infection data at this point. During the initial days however, I think they tried to downplay the infection numbers.
Then again China is a propaganda state. They rule with an iron fist and they have their own policies of dealing with issues. Its ok to have trust issues with the Chinese government, but can you trust ANY government in the world these days? Even during the corona outbreak, social media is riddled with anti Chinese propaganda. It's a constant power play.
Anyways geo politics aside what I wanted to say is that they are following the methods tried and tested in bringing SARS epidemic to a halt.
The truth is that the Chinese are the least to be trusted. Their own people have no faith.
Social media must be having a field day because of the lack of transparency. BTW I am no fan of social media. Fakebook is not in my books.
You are correct about the SARS. How the isolation worked. Any nation should realise that the "Transparency is the best policy".
it would be really tragic if anyone did not learn from the SARS experience.
