    :(:(

Li Wenliang, the Chinese whistleblower doctor who warned the public of a potential "SARS-like" disease in December 2019, has died, according to Wuhan Central Hospital. The confirmation follows a series of conflicting statements about his condition from the hospital and Chinese state media outlets.

Li died of the novel coronavirus in Wuhan in the early hours of Friday morning (local time).
"Our hospital's ophthalmologist Li Wenliang was unfortunately infected with coronavirus during his work in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic," the latest hospital statement read.
"He died at 2:58 am on Feb 7 after attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful."
Earlier on Thursday night, several state media outlets had reported Li's death, following which Chinese social media erupted in profound grief and anger.
Hours of confusion followed, with Wuhan Central Hospital releasing a statement saying Li was still alive and in critical condition, adding that they were "making attempts to resuscitate him."
State media subsequently deleted their previous tweets.

6th February 2020 – (Hubei) Li Wenliang, an ophthalmologist who worked at Wuhan Central Hospital passed away at 9.30pm today after being infected with novel coronavirus. He became famous as the whistleblower who first exposed to the world about the epidemic on 30th December.

On the evening of 30th December last year, in a WeChat group of about 150 people, he posted a message saying: “7 cases of SARS have been diagnosed in Huanan wet market and the patients were isolated in the emergency department of our hospital.” Li Wenliang broke the news when he was interviewed by a local media on the 30th December. In fact, he claimed that as early as January 8th, the relevant department already knew that the epidemic that was considered to be “unknown cause of viral pneumonia” at that time it could obviously transmit from person to person.

China deploys thermal drones to scan villagers for coronavirus from the skies

China has turned to thermal drones to help fight the coronavirus outbreak that are capable for scanning potentially infected villagers.

The unmanned aerial vehicles, which are equipped with thermal imaging technology, can read the body temperatures in the sky with high readings suggesting infection

The operator can receive accurate reading from the screen, which helps to control the outbreak at an early stage.

They can also send them warnings or urgent reminders through the speakers on the drones.

A spokesperson for the company behind the drones in Fuxin city of Liaoning province in northeastern China said: "We have two types of drones qualified to assist monitoring the outbreak – one equipped with speaker and one equipped with thermal imaging.
