The face of the US response to the coronavirus outbreak Dr Anthony Fauci said the White House virus task force would be examining its 15-day guidelines for social distancing, announced two weeks ago.

The deadline will likely be extended, Dr Fauci told CNN on Sunday, depending on the availability of instant testing kits.

"It’s going to be a matter of weeks. It’s not going to be tomorrow and it’s certainly not going to be next week," he said.

Dr Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, predicted that the US would see "millions of cases" and "between 100,000 and 200,000 deaths".

Masks certainly provides some degree of protection...Some barrier protecting you is better than having nothing.

Read this news item from the Czech Republic.

    https://www.praguemorning.cz/usage-of-masks-flattened-growth-of-coronavirus-cases-in-czech-republic/

The growth of coronavirus cases has “flattened” in the Czech Republic ever since the country’s government has made masks compulsory, claimed data scientist Jeremy Howard.

In the Czech Republic, the growth of news is low whereas in other parts of Europe the pandemic is largely out of control. This occurred after the government announced it was compulsory to wear something covering a part of your mouth and nose when leaving your residences – such as a home-made mask or a scarf on March 18.

Howard claimed that “one of the key reasons for the decrease in the growth of the cases is a massive country-wide community initiative to create and wear home-made masks.”

I've shared numerous peer-reviewed studies on this topic, almost every one of them agrees that having some protection is better than no protection

According to doctors, cotton face masks or handkerchiefs don’t provide any protection against the coronavirus. “Cloth (e.g. cotton or gauze) masks are not recommended under any circumstance,” reads the guideline of World Health Organization (WHO) on the usage of masks. But markets of Mumbai are flooded with cotton masks and trendy pieces decorated with cartoon characters and pop art. “Young people don’t like using surgical masks, so they have started putting on these trendy masks,” said Dr Gautam Bhansali, general physician from Bombay Hospital.

A scarf is 48.87% effective at capturing 0.02 micron Bacteriophage MS2 particles, so Erozan's 50% is not very far off the mark
