    Are you sure?
    yeah.

you have to pay stamp duties etc.

Even for stamp duties, if you can convince the valuation department, often you will end up will less taxes.

example, I sold a land for 5 lakhs per perch in matara. selling rate at the location is 450,000 per perch

But I got the valuation department for value it at 50,000 rupees per perch. So I had to pay a small duty.

You need to know the game bro

Don't crow about 'knowing the game' bro, if the game is about cheating the govt on taxes. You have in effect cheated the public, which includes me too. And we talk about why the govt isn't doing enough. How can they, if the public is dishonest, and not paying their dues?

its how the system works.. I dont know about colombo but here they will directly ask for bribes.

if not they will put a very big amount in your valuation report.

For example, if the real value in area is 1 million (selling price), they will put 1.5 million on the paper.. then you will freak out. then they will get your number call you and ask a bribe to reduce it

how can goverment do enough when ministers and goverment officers are stealling?

i know one company who supply soil to the goverment construction projects

they sell soil at a rate of 5000 rupees per cube to the goverment. the market value of soil is 3800 per

apparently , the soil supply company is owned by a government department secretary

they do call for tenders, but only that specific company is finally chosen.

for each cube sold, goverment looses 1200 rupees

You said you got them to overvalue your land, which is sad, to say the least, as it tantamounts to permitting them to meddle. Maybe it's the way things are done there. But is it right? Ask your parents even, or your conscience. :-)
In the case of govt ministers, their operation as you describe is wrong too. But those deeds are different from not honestly paying one's taxes.
