I don't get the point of this poll. This is either a joke or you are trying to prove some point that the people on elakiri are intolerant of homosexuals or something.

I hope this is just a joke because all this will end up proving is that people have not taken this poll seriously like so many threads on elakiri.

But British rulers tried to destroy the concept. (How Britain tried to 'erase' India's third gender) Because at that time, British and western society only accept straight-male or straight-female. But this is totally changed in the western society now. They accept being gay is normal. Unfortunately we are still living in the colonial mind-set(Even after 73 years of independence). Therefore we don't accept being gay is normal. We are still stuck in Victorian-society standards in Britain. Sri Lankans can not distinguish the differences between values of Sinhala-Buddhist culture and the values of Victorian-society.
