ANy idea when the Ban on Vehicle imports would get lifted??
Otherwise is there a current method where we can import vehicles by paying them in USDs directly
how long will it take Sri Lankan government to come out from USD Crisis currently facing now a days ?
    You have your answer....

simple answer - do not expect for at least next 3 years unless they release it for election month or two, but it will also for a month or two maximum. but still cannot do practically.....

currency there is no visible plan to constant supply
    - electricity constantly,
    - Gas Constantly
    - Fuel Constantly
    - fertilizer to affordable and fix price where farmers able to buy and get harvest.
    - No plan to supply animal foods (corn, Wheat ect). (supply of meat and milk will limit and increase price)

If they need to sort gas problem alone, they can order 5-7 shipments at same time with good old quality and supply 24X7 will sort problem in 7 days. also they can Increase gas price by another 25% to cover the increased cost, but no doing it..... but they do not have money to spend on it. earning rupees is not the solution. otherwise they can easily do it and sort this matter with in a week or two. gas problem started in late November. now we are in mid Jan. still arguing and time wasting. importing 2 or 3 shipment a week will sort day to day requirement. No solution for backlog. but they are not doing it. why ? simple ansewer No USD.

Think abot supply of fuel limited and stopped for 7-10 days, then no power, no transportation, no food (No processing, No transportation), No water pumping for nearly 40%-50% of population, generator will stop, fuel on private cars will end, distance travel will be maximum of 10-15km per day.
Think about basic necessities of life. Without fuel even collapse everything alone.
it will take 6-12 months see all above, if things worsen at this rate. but think of getting worsen rather improving. that day Money will be useless.

So vehicle importation will not open until these basic necessities of life will resorted/restated.

    No need for magic.
Stoping corruption will do the trick.
stopping corruption will only close the leaking tap brother.
how to heal the damage currently done/doing in a year or two...?
current crisis + future loan installment + damages doing for next 3 years.....
NPP also has to find a solutions for day to day operational and blunders already made.
it will take sometime to come out from problem.
As soon they get power, with in a month or year if they are going to sort it out then it must be magic rather practical plan.

harvesting / planting needs 6-12 months minimum like paddy/rice. some plants need 3 years like tea/coconut.
to get labour income need to send worker outside, let them to work 6 months minimum to get decent inflow. for that has to find new job opportunities, some training, sending, stabilizing.....
new business set up will take 12-6 months. so without Magic ?????

I'm saying NPP also need some time. Not only NPP any body ?
