This plastic rice scare has been there for more than 5 years. Reports came in mostly from India and from even from far away in Nigeria. As far as I can remember, someone in the UK tested a sample and found that the rice wasn't plastic but very old stock, badly stored and had mould too. So what these guys did was to bleach/wash/dry and apply a coat of paraffin.....

I remember the Melamine related execution incident... Of course they will ask you tp pay for the bullet and shoot you. That's no reflection of their food quality control. If you get caught badly you are done for...

Personally I would trust & prefer food from Japan, Korea, Taiwan & Thailand. Not Chinese. That's my opinion.
As for from where I got what I wrote earlier, that off my memory banks... I said it's more than a 5 year old story which surfaces from time to time. It's the Indians who went viral on it also saying that it was made from potato starch and various other fancy theories.

However, while searching I hit on this - Article dated Nov 2016 - it also mentions a scare from Indonesia seemingly from 2011.

IDK the videos are kinda sketchy. But cant trust QC from a country that silences dissidents

Its a bad situation where people are very dependent on China for a lot of things.

If I remember correct, USA had scare about medicine imports when China temporarily threatened to withhold shipments. Countries should look for alternatives outside of china
