looks like the reporter touched a nerve there.. seems like ponil lost his composure there
reporter asked a very valid question.
this dude has been rejected many many times in the polls and he still clings on to party leadership with a death grip
he should be sent to the retirement home along with the rajapaksha gang

He should ask about retirement first from his own President.
100% and then some
Why though? his president didn't drag the country down an ever deepening debt crisis

The question is uncalled for. It has no bearing on the crisis. If he's worried about elderly politicians per se shouldn't he start from home, with his president?
Bro he isn't just an elderly politician, He is a rejected politician. Not only once, he has been rejected for multiple times. The question is uncalled for. It has no bearing on the crisis. If he's worried about elderly politicians per se shouldn't he start from home, with his president?

So he got the answer that Ranil has put his proposals forward in Sri Lanka and there's been a favourable response. The questions asked need very long and time-consuming answers to give a clear picture. The reporter never said anything about him being elderly; what he said was "The last election you lost was also on the back of poor economic performance, isn't it time for new leadership across the board in SL to take the country to the next era?"

Point being, he is an another politician that has proven his incompetence time after time - as mentioned by the reporter, economic performance was in a study decline in his tenure too. Clearly he's not the answer to the Rajapaksa problem.

The word incompetence is subjective.
At least I don't think he's named in any corrupt operation in any govt action officially.
To his credit, at least he was 'less harmful' than the Rajapaksas.
One might not like his face, but none can ignore him because there's no substitute for experience.
Very true, we have thoroughly experienced how inept Wickremesinghe is at running a country. Even Americans seems to have recognized that the best Ranil can do for the country at this point is to leave politics and never return![]()
