I saw something to this effect on FB. Was in Sinhala and translated as far as I can understand. Can this be true though?
If so, does that mean the phone shops and other companies actually paid their own USD (maybe from unconverted foreign currency accounts or actual paper money, perhaps reserved upfront from potential buyers) upfront and brought these to Sri Lanka? (Without using the usual route of opening LCs for the batch order with rupee payments and completing the transaction through the banking system)
