The shortish answer is that Marvel in the 1990’s overextended themselves and ended up on the edge of bankruptcy.

To avoid this Marvel sold off the Movie rights for the X-Men and Fantastic Four (and the characters associated with them) to FOX. And the rights to Spider-Man and associated characters to Sony Pictures. The Distribution rights for any Hulk film were bought by Universal (I think); meaning that we will not get a stand alone Hulk film as Disney would be legally required to distribute any such film through that studio.

This is why the X-Men and Fantastic Four have not been seen in the MCU, or even the terms ‘mutant’ or ‘Adamantium’ used*; FOX held the rights. Now that Disney bought FOX they hold the rights so both franchises will become part of the MCU.

Spider-Man however remains a Sony Pictures property for film. But Sony was willing to come to a deal to allow Disney-Marvel to bring that Character into the MCU as it benefited both companies; Disney by giving them THE big hitter at Marvel. Sony by getting reasonably competent people to make such films and seeing how it should be done, after less the spectacular performances of the Andrew Garfield films.

But, as noted, Sony still holds the actual rights for Spider-Man and the associated characters. Which is why Venom isn’t included in the MCU roster, nor Carnage (Venom 2) or Morbius the living vampire (upcoming). Unless Sony and Disney can come to a deal these films will remain apart from the MCU. Although there isn’t actually anything stopping them from being retroactively added to the MCU roster. Any more than the first two Deadpool films are technically not part of the MCU (produced and released by FOX not Disney), but will presumably be de-facto parts of the MCU as Deadpool 3 will be part of the MCU.

*In the films Captain America’s shield is made from Vibranium. The comic shield is made from an adamantium-steel alloy.

And yes Wanda and Petro, or Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, did appear in both the FOX X-Men films and the MCU. This was because while those characters were introduced in the X-Men comics, they actually spend and were a more important part of the Avengers. So the rights were, to a degree, shared.

Iron Man was a good movie. Its the movie that kick started the super hero wave for Marvel.

Avengers 1 was a good movie. It handled multiple egoistic characters well.. again kick-started Team super hero movies

Winter Soldier was the best of the lot. It was a good action packed thriller.

Infinity War & End-Game were good popcorn movies. They did what they supposed to do. Entertained.

Others were meh.. most were terrible.. Specially Black Panther.. one of the most overrated shit piles of their franchise with Captain Marvel.

Woke culture took a dump on Marvel.. so after End-Game didn't watch many marvel movies.. didn't watch the new Thor, Spiderman or black panther..
