This malware pretends to be a genuine Chrome browser update, but it is a remote access trojan (RAT) that can take over your computer. This is often the first step in a ransomware attack, which can cost you much money and data. Security experts have noticed a new version of this malware, called “FakeUpdateRU” by Jerome Segura of MalwareBytes.
