Sign on when arriving at the meeting. This is important!
    ● Flag marshals should not wear YELLOW fluro vests or YELLOW wet weather gear as they can confuse
    riders.
    ● Flag Marshals are appointed to give signals where required for safety of riders on the race circuit.
    ● Flag Marshals will occupy positions around the race track assigned to them by the Clerk of the Course
    or the Chief Flag Marshal.
    ● You are required during the first lap of practice for each class of riders to hold the yellow flag straight
out in front of you so the riders can see where you are positioned for when racing starts.
    ● Position yourself so you can be seen by the approaching riders, but you must be able to see the riders
in the corner and exiting the corner/jump, as this is where most accidents happen.
    ● The job of a flag marshal is to focus on the area of track that LEAVES their designated area, not the are
BEFORE. This is because a rider will generally fall off or crash on landing, not on take-off. A flag marshal
therefore slows down riders approaching a hazard, so the fallen rider is protected from other riders
landing on or running over them after a fall.
    ● Race Officials will look after fallen riders and their machines. Your job is to use the flags for riders’
    safety.
    ● Never put yourself in a position that may not be safe.
    ● If you are unsure of any duties of a flag marshal, please ask the Clerk of the Course, the Chief Marshal
or the Steward of the meeting. It’s important for the riders safety.
    ● Please be alert at all times with a yellow flag at the ready for instant use.
You may have several flags assigned to you which you may use. The most common ones are:
    Yellow Flag
The yellow flag is the warning flag for oncoming riders. If an accident has occurred, or there is an object on the
track, display the yellow flag and make sure riders know of the danger ahead. You must hold, and in some
cases, wave this flag until the race track is clear of danger between your position and that of the next flag
    marshal.
Riders must not pass (or jump in MX) while under a yellow flag until they are clear of the incident.
If a rider does pass (or jumps) they must be reported promptly to the race officials; so you need to note their
    number.
Yellow Flag held stationary: Warning, slow down, no overtaking, (MX and SX: no jumping).
Yellow Flag waved: Danger, slow down, no overtaking, (MX and SX: no jumping). Prepare to STOP.
