Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh killed in Iran

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran on Wednesday, the Palestinian militant group Hamas and Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards said in separate statements.

Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the assassination but suspicion immediately fell on Israel, which has vowed to kill Haniyeh and other leaders of Hamas over the group's Oct. 7 attack on Israel that killed 1,200 people and saw some 250 others taken hostage.

Iran's statement gave no details on how Haniyeh was killed. The New York Times was the first to report the incident.

Hanieh attended Iran's new president's swearing in ceremony on Tuesday.

"Early this morning, the residence of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran was struck, resulting in his and one of his body guards' martyrdom. The cause is under investigation and will be announced soon," the Revolutionary Guards said.

This might be true machan. There are some missiles that don't explode but releases sharpenels like razor blades. Recently, these have been used by US to eliminate high value targets in densely populated areas to minimize civilian casualties
