It's about efficiency.. - eg during child birth and rearing it makes sense only for the man to work..

Can you run faster than the fastest woman in the world..? - most men in the world would fail..

Strong and independent women supposed to be attractive to men..

Two salaries are better than one..

I'm not sure where the discussion is headed. But my opinion is mainly about state sector positions in Sri Lanka. There are exceptions such as teachers but in many other places women are less flexible, less compassionate, and less punctual. They consider their position as a license to consider them almighty. In no society can we call someone 100% correct, but the majority as I've seen.

Many Sri Lankan lady doctors' chat anywhere about anything contains a huge amount of medical jargon. That's how they show you that they know stuff. A female clerk at a gov office will require you to produce seventeen million certificates and signatures to get a simple letter.

Call it whatever you may.

Anyway that doesn't mean that you should bar them from working. On the contrary you should expose them to work more and more until they get the idea that work is not a decoration or an accolade, but a way of making a living.
Besides, if not for the girls sweating in garment factories, doctors won't be getting a salary.
