    Hi guys,

Quick question regarding funding an IBKR account while living in Sri Lanka.

What is the best way to do this? Is it possible to create a Wise or Skrill account and transfer funds through that? Do local banks generally allow such transactions?

If the transfer is successful, can I then fund my IBKR account using Wise or Skrill? Also, has anyone experienced Wise or Skrill restricting or blocking accounts after making transfers to investment platforms?

I'm looking to transfer less than LKR 1 million and would appreciate hearing about your experiences, any challenges you've faced, and any alternative methods that work well.

    Thanks wewa :)

I don't think you can create a wise account while staying in SL. I haven't used IBKR either :-D. Anyways if they allow you to topup some account there, then you can try something like undiyal where you pay a guy here to put money in to that account.

In SL they block most of the outward transfers. They don't even let me take out my USD as USD from my own PFCA once it is in the bank.

Yeah it sucks. If you want to take it out then you need to probably show invoices and shit. Best is not to bring to SL if you have no intentions of converting it to LKR

Investing abroad without an OIA account is a felony under Sri lankan law. You are playing with fire my friend.

How does it work.required to goto bank for every approval to release funds to buy shares?
I don't know. What i heard was that a sri lankan citizen gets a life time allowance of 200,000 usd to be invested abroad.

For that you need to have BFCA (business foreign currency account) first.
Then apply for OIA. I don't know how.

Then transfer money into OIA and then to IBKR maybe.

I just really wanted to give back something to the community dude - but instead I got fucking unwanted backlash - even from members I personally adore in this community so I had no other option.
    What thread?
