PS: Note : The Bombay Phenotype mentioned in the video is the type that has missing H, A or B antigens. It appears to be in Group O in standard ABO typing, but it carries an IgM anti-H antibody. THis antibody reacts with all normal A, B, AB, and O red cells. This implies that if a patient with the Bombay phenotype is transfused, that could cause severe haemolytic reaction and intravascular haemolysis.
Thus you need to find another human with Bombay phenotype in case of a transfusuion.
Just a couple of years ago a Spanish team was researching with a gut bacterium enzyme which could convert normal Type O blood to Bombay type by removing the H antigen.
