There's a possibility that there will be some sort of new wave within 24-48 months time.
This they will contain, but something else will come out.

• Kyrgyzstan has increased sanitary/quarantine controls at border checkpoints, including monitoring people, vehicles and cargo.
• Tajikistan has strengthened screening at border health checkpoints, including temperature checks and questions about symptoms.
• Uzbekistan has reportedly increased epidemiological readiness and border sanitary controls.
• Indonesia has increased health surveillance at international points of entry because of the Russian incident.
• The EU is monitoring the situation closely, but I haven't found evidence of an EU-wide Russia travel/border ban.

Obviously because all these 'Stan" countries get heaps of visitors from Russia. These Stan countries were the old Russian bloc. Also many young people from Stan countries work in Russia.
