Do I have to Pay Taxes ...

I am planning to buy an external hard disk and an iPod from eBay as I found it very cheap there . I am just afraid that I have to pay taxes here in Customs.

Do I have to pay ?
How much or what percentage do I have to pay ?
Anyone has this online shopping experience before ?

Do I have to visit Customs office in Colombo to get they parcel or does the shipment arrive to my house address ?

I have ordered small inexpensive stuff from eBay (i.e : Memory cards, computer RAM, Bluetooth headsets, etc..). Didn't have to pay any taxes and they were delivered to my home.

AFAIK tax for computer parts is around 10%. But sometimes even computer parts might pass through customs undetected if the package is small and light. Not sure about MP3 players though.. even if there is a TAX, cant be much..

Ordering Hard disks through eBay is not the best idea, not because of Taxes, because it could get damaged on the way. And if something goes wrong claiming warranty is difficult and costly. Local HDD prices are pretty decent so why bother ?

I have some money in my Paypal account which I earned through the Internet. I can't get it to Sri Lanka. So I want to buy something. I changed my mind to buy a 4GB RAM.

Could you show me the retailer through which you bought your RAM so that I can too order from him ? Will the taxes be high if I order something like a XBox 360 or a PS3 ?
