JVP supporters putting up posters of General (retd) Sarath Fonseka early this morning came under attack in three locations in the Gampaha district, a party spokesman said.
In one of the incidents at Weliveriya, two persons were injured when a group who arrived in a white van attacked them. The number plate of the van was covered with a sticker.
In the second in Attanagalla two more supporters were injured as they were putting up posters.
In Minuwangoda a gang attacked JVP supporters as they were putting up posters, the spokesman said.
In Mardana, the police had arrived with a group of persons and threatened a group putting up posters and removed the posters which had already been put up. They had also taken away the remaining posters of Gen Fonseka.
