    who ever done this article is hiding the truth. The Stadium was in very bad state and no major refurbishment was done after it was constructed, other than adding buildings. The Cricket board had no choice but to refurb this, if we are to host the World cup. Tenders and proposals were called about 05 months back for this. They had a budget for this and it included expansion of the seating areas.

    This I know because I went for the meeting, when they called for proposals.

    yah i have been many times to da RPS.. it was in gud condition (myb nt lik da ones in AUS)


    Have you noticed the roof condition?? The Steel trussed were corroded and some places the Zn/Al sheets were detached due to wind. The Cricket board badly wanted to repair the premises to host the World cup, and make some money. we have done an investigation on the condition of the building.

    Also the cricket board wants to increase the capacity and they wanted to make the single storey to double storey for this.

    The news is true, the cricket board needs 800 Mil (not sure about the figure but its a very big job). But if somebody says its because of the SLFP convention, its not true.

    what is the source of this news? because this is totally conflicting with the ICC news report on Cricinfo.com about status of Sri Lankan grounds.......

    bro i stay near this stadium for more than 22 years i born dere the stadium was in good condition i went last september when i am in vacation also to see the match between india and sri lanka

    some places no roofing sheets... so many cracks in the toilets.... Many toilets are blocked because the the septic tanks doesn't have the correct capacity....

    Have you noticed those?????.....
