guys i'm planning to buy a good pair of high quality headphones..
budget: 4k bt can increase a bit.. if u knw any place or price pls post here
i want booming bass.. hw abt sony extra bass series.. how much is it in lk ?
My last pair of headphones was a Philips SBCHP840, it had pretty good bass. Bought from a Philips showroom. But that was like 4 years ago. After that I stuck with in-ear earphones. They are comfortable to wear and bass is pretty good too. Right now I have 3 pairs : a Senhiser CX300, Sony MDR-EX75, and a Philips SHE9700. Philips has a very good bass but treble sounds are slightly muffled. Sony’s bass is slightly lacking but highs are clearer, same goes for the Senhiser. All those earphones are in the range of Rs 3000 ~ 4000.

any idea about the price range of a genuine cx300 ?![]()
I got mine from US for around $35 two years back. Now the prices may have gone down a bit. But I prefer the Philips SHE9700 more than cx300.
EDIT:
Amazon has it for $28 now.

machan it will be difficult to get it down from amazon.. i prefer to buy it from sri lanka.. last time i bought a sennheiser hd 202 for around 13 gbp from uk but now the price has gone up to a level whr it's worth it to spend the extra 500-800 rupees to buy it with local warranty![]()
I bought my Philips headphones from a Phillips showroom at Bambalapitiya. That was a long time back, not sure if they are still located there. Anyways, you can try other Philips showrooms, Siedles or Swedish trading, there is also a place in Crescat that deals with high end audio equipment (don’t remember the name though); but usually those places over charge. Cheapest is to get it down from overseas.
Then there are those electronic shops in Liberty Plaza and MC, but cant say if they are genuine or not.

how does the bass in philips compares to sennheiser ? btw i am also interested other brands like audio tecknica, jvc etc![]()

Well, you can’t really compare two different brands and say one is better than the other in terms of specific acoustic properties. Both companies have cheap entry level and high-end premium products. Therefore you have to compare specific models, not the brands. In my experience, between the Senhiser cx300 and Philips SHE9700 I find the Philips to have a deeper clearer bass without equalizing. But if you change the settings of your audio output (apply bass boosting effects etc..) Senhiser can also reproduce clean low frequency sounds without any distortions. But with no equalizing Philips has more bass with slightly muffled highs while Senhiser has a comparatively less amount of bass but clear highs. I had another pair of Philips earphones before this (now broken) they also had very good bass. Between the two brands I think Senhiser charges a premium for the brand name, therefore IMO you can get better value for the money with Philips. BTW Shure is another very good earphone manufacturer, but again like Senhiser they charge for the brand name.
IMO you wont be disappointed if you get a decent pair of Philips earphones...
P.S : I’m not an audiophile by any means, this is just my personal opinion.

machan creative ganing
