Check first go to AV and Change the NTSC to PAL and PAL to NTSC first if it works ,go for it ,and Check the AV cables first as well

Audio ,Video and Stereo (Optional)
PS3 comes with HD cable as well so u can play games with HD quality if the TV supported to HD

and if you intend to play Pirated Copies you need to Modify your console first ,there are some shops in MC ,so ask from them maybe it takes some amount of money

anyway I suggest you to buy an Xbox not a PS coz they are more cheap
u can buy Xbox360 arcade for $180 and Xbox $100 or even more maybe $80 (and can play most of games)

ps2 is already outdated. get the ps3. you will be able to play good games for a long time. not worth putting cash on a ps2
