    that's not true

when it comes to LCD displays there are only three major manufactures in the world.

    1. S-LCD (a joint venture between sony and samsung) all sony and samsung displays are made using panels made by this company

    2. LG Display

    3. Sharp.

all the other manufacturers (dell, hp, viewsonic etc) buy panels from either of these three companies and sell with their brand name attached.

there are some cheap chinese manufacturers that make their own panels, and you should keep urself well clear of those crap.

buy either an LG or samsung cuz they manufacture their own panels.

yeah only those companies produce LCD panels, cuz it takes huge money to for that process. but other companies such as Asus, HP use those panels and new technologies to enhance the video quality. So it doesn't mean that panel makers got best LCD monitors!!

Isn't View Sonic gud??? As I hv heard it's color is better than other LCD monitors
i didn't say they are bad. my conception is that if you buy one from a manufacturer that has it's own lcd panel building company (remember there are only three LG, Sharp, S-LCD (Sony-Samsung)) you are likely to get better quality at a significantly lower price. besides LG and samsung are in the TV business for ages so, it's only reasonable to assume that they have better technology and expertise when it comes to color reproduction.

yeah you've got a point here. but what makes you think the likes of Asus, HP etc have better technology for displays? remember their primary business is not display production. essentially they are computer manufacturers, so their expertise lies in the PC manufacturing industry. on the other hand, for LG, Sony, Samsung and Sharp the key business area being consumer electronics, they've got ages worth of experience in TV and monitor manufacturing under their belts. so i believe those consumer electronics companies have better technology, expertise and better value for money when it comes to display manufacturing.
there's one more thing neither hp, dell or asus manufacture their own stuff- not even computers. instead, they design them and give the designs to a chinese contract manufacturer (like foxconn or quanta etc) and it is those chinese contractors that actually do the manufacturing.
