mahinda didn't declare war on the LTTE when he came to power. He wanted to hold peace talks. he was compelled to declare war after the mavil aru incident and the LTTE declared the 4th elam war. Have you forgotten all this?
He did what any other president would do in his place.

"Main person is the president". So what did the soldiers do? Plucked coconuts? No Politician did the war. The soldiers did!!!
No I haven't forgotten. Too bad most of the Sri lankans have. And General Sarath Fonseka is the best army commander our country have seen after General Kobbakaduwa.

Does the fact that he didn't stop the war gives him the right to waste and steal peoples money like he's doing right now. Or is this what you call "කළගුණ සැලකීම"?

I agree with you about private universities. The problem is they will only consider how rich you are, not your qualifications (Due to the fact this is sri lanka). It's good idea. But it isn't practical. The only result will be some idiotic goons with a degree that doesn't know thing but had the ability to buy the degree. As long as it will demand qualifications that are similar or a bit less than a government university, it's okay.

Why do you think mahinda put the general in jail in the first place? They arrested him claiming that he was going to overthrow the government.That's a serious claim. But is that what he was charged for? No. This is called political revenge. According to them, even going against them in a election is a capitol crime. Mahinda should & must apologize from the General.

what's your logic? That military men don't know how to run a country? So you think mahinda runs the country alone. Then why does he keep more than 30 advisers.

If that's your logic let me show you some examples.

Charles de Gaulle - was a soldier in the first world war and the french military commander after the Germans captured France. He commanded the free french forces. He was a military man for most of his life.

After the war ended in 1945 he was the one who helped France get back on her feet. He didn't wait for ten years to gain political experience.

More than half of American presidents have a military careers.

George Washington - The 1st US president. Was a high ranking officer in the British army and later commanded the revolutionary forces in the American revolution.

No president finished the war. The army did. If a president can finish a war by himself what do we need an army for? Mahinda was compelled to declare war. After the success at mavil aru our people began to think we can surely win. That's why he kept up the war effort. You didn't answer my question, Do you think he would have declared war if the LTTE didn't close down mavil aru?

How many years have we been at war after General Kobbakaduwa? How many army commanders did we have? The difference with Fonseka is he did the war with modern military tactics. Not world war two tactics. He didn't name his operations according to his gana(astrology). He didn't look for "suba nakath" to start an operation. That's why won the war with a minimum amount of casualties.

Can you please elaborate on the great things the president assumably did. So shouting on a stage is equal to fighting in the front.
The only great things he did was to gain political benefits in the provincial council elections.

This system won't change overtime. Because including you many people doesn't won't it to change. Is it so hard to trust a man from your own class than a person that came to politics because their father's did. That's how the system works. The son comes along to take over once his father leaves the post. Do you really think men from political dynasties really care about the common man? Do you think they understand even a bit about what the normal sri lankan goes through to win his bread & butter?
These kind of politicians will not allow the system to change.

No I can't guarantee that he will solve everything. But why are you so afraid to give him a chance? Because he's a commoner? Maybe 2500 years of feudalism must have hardwired the brains of our people to follow the descendants of the so called nobles or "Walaw" class.

Can you tell me why mahinda is suitable for presidency? The laws and theories of politics hasn't changed much since the time of Aristotle and Pluto. For example the so called democracy was first adopted in Greece & it still lives. Surely it has changed much during the years. But the main idea is the same. You can't compare music & clothes to politics can you?

There are many incidents in the world where people came to power without any prior political experience and still made their rule a success. If you think I'm lying you can research it. You would say it won't apply to Fonseka. So I'm not going to take time to give examples to you.

Can you please tell me why mahinda is a good president? The only good thing he did was to let the war happen. That's all. He failed our country economically and in the international political arena. Can you deny these claims? Can you tell me if our people are living an easy life now days? Can you tell me that the price of living isn't going up? Can you tell me that freedom of speech isn't affected by his rule?

Please look at my username again. It's Silver bird. And no I don't look at people as 100% pure or 100% bad. I'm not a member of any party. I supported mahinda in 2005 because then he was the obvious best choice. But I doesn't take the side of injustice. Like I said the only thing he did was to let the war happen & take credit for it.
Economically & socially he did nothing worth telling except build concrete roads.

I'm not talking about the war. I'm talking about how he's reacting to India. I'm talking about palali & the mineral resources of the north. If you want you can check whether I'm lying or not. But I won't try to prove it to you here.

King Dutugamunu & King Prakramabahu actually fought alongside their soldiers. They got wounded in the field. The Problem with this king is he tells the media he won the war alone without ever putting a step on the front. Parakramabhu made tanks (wav) more than he made ponds.

Yes some of the weapons the SL army has are 2nd world war weapons. But not all. The T 56 for example. I talked about strategies dear friend not weapons. SL has 3 forces, yes but the army did most of the heavy work. There's nothing to argue about that. You can realize that by comparing the number of casualties in this war. I'm not saying that the air force and the navy did nothing. Without them the army couldn't have gone forward. But saying that the army didn't do the main tasks in a war that was mainly fought on land is hilarious.

You don't live here brother. We are the ones paying the price for our great president's great deeds. You don't know what it's like to live here. You live in russia? I don't know about you, but I'm a common man. And it's pretty hard to live here for a common man. Please come & visit sri lanka and stay here for about 6 months. Then you'll understand.
