Jenna Lee Dewan was born on December 3, 1980, in Hartford, Connecticut.
As the daughter of former Notre Dame running back Darryll Dewan, she had athletic prowess in her genes and, at the age of 5, dancing found its way into her life.
With Madonna and Paula Abdul as two of her earliest idols, Jenna Dewan took dancing seriously and continued it through her early years and into high school at Grapevine High School.
By the time she graduated from high school, Jenna Dewan had become a genuine talent across various forms of dance.
Her initial emphasis had been ballet, but by now she was equally talented in jazz dancing, hip-hop, salsa, tap, lyrical, and modern.
At 16 years of age, a dance agent discovered Jenna Dewan and asked her to move to Los Angeles upon her graduation to pursue dancing as a career. She accepted the offer and moved to California, where she attended USC and joined the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity simultaneously.
