1942 waladi, CWW Kannaangara educational reforms propose karama, eya education eka, kindergarten eke idala, university dakwama free denna yojana kara.

kindergareten to ALs wenakan 100% student population ekata free education dunnata, university education denne, brightest students la 10% ta witharai, at the expense of every other citizen.

othanadi CWWK ge tharkaya wune, those brightest students who enter those few universities in Sri Lanka are POOR and therefore ONLY they deserve university education kiyanawa wage deyak, which is simply impractical and therefore wrong! anika api dannawa, hama brightest student ma poor nathi bawa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._W._W._Kannangara#cite_note-moe-ho-5Kannangara kiyanneth bohoma bright student kenek nisa wennath athi, miniha ehema bookworms la ta witharak favor karana university education ekak implement kare.

oya 10% students la sulu tharayata ugannanna billions walin tax payers la spend karanne, eth me brightest students la ratata karapu deyak nathi hinda, rata boho durata thama 1948 wala nidahas labuwa kale wagemai! anthime wune mokadda, anith 90% AL sit karapu ayata yana ena mung nathiwa, mulu ratama arajika wecha eka witharai.

ewage 10% brightest hari wealthiest hari students lata witharak university education dena systems, simply ridiculous. Australia wage ratakan okata kiyanne discrimination kiyala, mokada hamoma asai igena gena diyunu wenna. mokadda me brightest students la witharak degree ganna sudusui kiyana pissu adahasa!

Hope we would see the first private university soonest, and hopefully get these utterly useless free state university system for just 10% students, also abolished and spend those billions of rupees on developing the country!

Machan I really dont want to get into an argument, cos now no one seems to listen to others view but simply try to argue & also trying to get all political.

But whats your point? Not to give education for the 'brightest students'??

Im not saying A/L is filtering the best of the best, any system has its negatives. but if u simply say we shouldnt give education to those who earns it that sounds a bit joke to me. [You should understand that us all go through hardship to do well at A/L, with all this competition, and majority of the students who selct to universities through A/L really deserve that, and they get good results is simply because they work for it - ie: EGOLLO IGANAGANNA AASA NISA THAMA E RESULTS GATTHE ]

If you're blaming whole university student community because of few students work thats not right.

And if you go and see about Uni students there are many students who are facing many difficulties in uni due to their poverty and some steps taken by university administration. So THERE IS A REAL ISSUE.
If someone is going to cover up that issues just because of few students work, then that isnt right either.

Saying all this I have to say I always thought (before being a uni student & still as an undergrad) there should be private unis in any country. But before that State universities should be strengthen and give the right competition to private ones.

Please machan try to understand real situation, not just the things things that media wants us to believe.
    Hope u'd understand.

    .

Neither did I mention the following, nor in the practical world such happens,

**** Not to give education for the 'brightest students'?? ****

I mean if that happens then that's discrimination! But limiting the uni education to the brightest students too is discrimination. Also I clearly mentioned in my article the cost of spending for these brightest students, which has yielded nothing in return, which is proven by all obvious reasons!

    Having that clarified

****** Saying all this I have to say I always thought (before being a uni student & still as an undergrad) there should be private unis in any country. But before that State universities should be strengthen and give the right competition to private ones. *******

That's not the problem of the 180,000 some 2011 AL sitters, who simply cannot get a top Z score, and thereby not get a university education for their entire life!

***** And if you go and see about Uni students there are many students who are facing many difficulties in uni due to their poverty and some steps taken by university administration. So THERE IS A REAL ISSUE. *****

Bro, poverty is just part and partial of every SL citizen, take it or leave it, without generalizing that poverty is a problem limited to the brightest students!

And why do you think 200,000 students sit for A/Ls? for fun? They too work hard AS MUCH AS THEY CAN. 3AS IS NOT A GOOD RESULT MAN IT'S THE TOP RESULTS, SO NO WONDER 90% CANNOT REACH THAT TARGET!

The reason why you think "
now no one seems to listen to others view but simply try to argue & also trying to get all political." is because your views are impractical to the vast majority of the people!

I understand you do not want to get into an argument, because simply there is nothing to argue because systematically and purposefully leaving 90% of children without university education is a sin!
