.rm files open/play karana heti kiyanna puluwanda???

I downloaded few media files with the .rm extension. These are Real Media files.
Is there anyway I could open these files in VLC or to convert them to another file format supported by Windows Media Player(free of charge, I have no $$$)
I don't want to install RealMedia since it makes my machine utterly slow!!

PS:
I Used This method too..Click Here.
But this is not working for me even after i updated the VLC Player.
Media plaer classic also did not play these files. They say ".......you may not have the needed codecs or filters installed in the system."
Is there any codec pack which I can download from the internet to play these files

Please help. loku Udawwak!!
