How many times do you switch on your computer?

Hey guys how many times a day do you switch on your computer on average? Mine is around 3 times a day & some days 4 to 5 times. Is there any effect of doing this???

Mine also a laptop but feel kind a bad about hdd and vga unit heat so not keeping on more than 6-7 hours!

Actually it is!

Turning On and Off is BAD for Hard Disks.
mainly Hard Disks, and CRT monitors also have a minimum effect. RAM, CPU, LCD has almost no effect.

Problem comes with Mechanical parts. Fully electronic parts are OK. Hard Disks have Moving parts, Spinning Up and Down hard disks are not good for its health.
ShutDown then Starts (Restarts won't affect since during restart, hard disk keep spinning) badly affect hard disks.
And the Power options in Operating systems also badly affect hard Disks. "Turn Off Hard Disks" and "Hibernate" after X minutes are bad option to select. But for laptops we have to enable them to save power!
