home theater sys is only better when you have DTS, dolby digital, etc sounds. personally I don't get many films with DTS..
I think you should go for the HI-FI.. I mean I would definitely..

It's better to look at the SNR(Signal to noise ratio) and THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) Parameters if they are available in the specifications.

They indicate the sound quality of the product...

Overall music quality may be higher in HIFI sys. But it doesn't have Dolby Pro Logic decoding or DTS.

If you're interested in Music quality, go for HIFI.

If you're interested in watching movies in home theater settings (dolby PL1/11) with 5:1 sound system, go for HT systems.

P.S. - Sony brand is unreasonably expensive. Did you try Panasonic?

Hi fi system 1k hondatama athi.Home theater 1e av receiver 1 ta 100,000 withara yanawa.Quality speakers walatath godak gaanak yanawa.Cables , subwoofer okkotoma 300,000k withara yai. Mama hithana widihata me hi fi system eka , 100,000 ta aduwen ganna puluwan.
