Glad to watch movie channels at ungodly hours!
This is one funny crime/comedy movie thats totally underrated. its almost a dark comedy. Oliver Platt as an italian under boss is so freaking funny!
The whole cast performed well totally deserves high ratings.

A great mystery with an unduly yet unrealistic end. Though some are trying to compare with this with The Prestige, Both are two different movies. There are no explanation of how some of his tricks have been done like Prestige. Rated 9 at IMDB.

Gets better with each view!
This really should've won the Oscar for best picture. Totally kicks Avatar's ass in terms of hardcore Sci Fi. Avatar is just a fantasy movie compared to this.
Even I would have loved that movie if it wasnt for the way that director handled the cam. It just irritating
Both have lot of similarities too machan. Both works involved with tricks.
In both movies some mastermind plot a plan. And all other characters involved with it act in the same way that man expect.

darn straight this should have won the oscar over that war movie that won ...
as many excellent sci fi movies, this gives so many insights..such a treat to watch. shakey camera work and weird acting really grows on you after 15 minutes..I didn't even notice them after that.

2nd watching of both movies certainly confirms that D 9 should've won it.
This movie is hardcore Sci Fi. The shakey camera is hardly noticeable unlike in cloverfield. The acting certainly does grow on you and you begin to notice the finer aspects of the movie in the 2nd watch.
I'm pretty sure he failed to grab the true message of the movie as well so not getting the camera work doesn't matter muchZeus district 9 is a very good science fiction movie...

Yeah. Basically those two are in the same boat with tricks.
Is it the same in The Prestige? Other characters involve in the same way mastermind expect?
I don't think so.But unlike The Prestige, The Illusionist doesn't explain how those tricks (like vanishing in the theater) can be done and it's quite impossible too. Well I know you can say same about clone machine in The Prestige, But atleast it has been made under some Physics background with Tesla and co.
