Suriyawewa,

is one of rural village in Hambanthota district.

Hambantota District is located on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka, in the Southern Province. It has an area of 2,593 km² and a very dry climate. The district capital is Hambantota town; the administrative headquarters are located there as well as the center of salt production. Other prominent towns include Tangalle, Ambalantota, Tissamaharamaya, and Beliatta.

Before modern development took place after the country gained independence in 1948, the agriculture in the district was characterised by swidden cultivation (chena or slash and burn), and to some extent paddy cultivation on non-irrigated land. In the highlands, kurakkan - a grain used to make an eatable paste - was cultivated along with other grains such as corn. Leonard Woolf's 'Village in the Jungle' provides a highly interesting and insightful account of the people, the land and issues of concern during the British Colonial period as he worked as an assistant government agent for Hambantota.

we took public transport for our journey.

There is a bus starts from Colombo Pvt bus stand at 5.50pm goes to Suriyawewa..
the bus route is 122..
it arrives on 12.30-1am on to Suriyawewa town.

• Accommodation

we have a friend called JAI, who is friend of Chamikawp, and we could stay at JAI's place on Suriyawewa..

• what should we bring with us

Definitely need
Sun-glass
water bottle
Cap.
if you are caring about your skin use sun cream.
it will protect you from burning sun because in Suriyawewa don't hope about rain..it is really really hot place in Sri lanka

Here we start our journey...

we gathered on Colombo Pvt Bus stand at 5 O'clock and our on time working man NIC came at 5.49pm at last man..as the result we all couldn't have the seat and just got 4 seats for our total 8 crew..

the bus was jam packed..because of long weekend many people were going back to their homes..

This is how we were traveling to Suriyawewa

bus was stopped for the sank, and we were in damn hungry, but the hotel was horrible, .so we ate Yourget..haha it was nice, 2 yourgets for ones

we arrived to Suriyawewa about 12.30am and there was a night hotel,

we all were damn hungry and 1st thing we did is, just went inside of that and found something for eat..
finally we decided to eat "POL ROTI & LUNU MIRIS"

it was good choice at that time and we recollected what we have done in Hortan plains

after that we went JAI's Place and spent night at there...

We got up at 5.30am on 2nd day of our trip and we were planing to go Kathragama..

we took Bus to Noonagama junction and from there to Hambantota another bus..we couldn't believe that bus was going so fast..
yeeeeah it was awesome

on our way to Hambanthota we could see the new building air port area and Wind power plant..but we were unable to got down there.

we came to Hambanthota around 7.30am like that we were in damn hungry..so decided to have our breakfast there

we are very hungry people..so no time to take a snap

after having or breakfast we were waiting for a Katharagama bus, after 20mins we could get CTB bus to Katahragama

As i told before, in those buses in that area , are not going so slowly,..it drives at least 60kmph

Kataragama (also Katharagama, Katirkamam and Kathirgamam, Sinhala: කතරගම, Tamil: கதிர்காமம் (Katirkāmam)) is a pilgrimage town popular with Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and indigenous Vedda communities of Sri Lanka and South India. The town has Ruhunu Maha Kataragama devalaya, a shrine dedicated to Skanda-Murukan also known as Kataragamadevio. Kataragama is situated in the Monaragala District of Uva province, Sri Lanka. It is situated 228 km ESE of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Although Kataragama was a small village in medieval times, today it is a fast developing township surrounded by jungle in the South Eastern region of Sri Lanka. It also houses the ancient Kiri Vehera Buddhist stupa. The town has a venerable history dating back to the last centuries of BCE. It also was the seat of government of many Sinhalese kings during the days of Rohana kingdom. Since the 1950's the city has undergone many improvements with successive governments investing in public transportation, medical facilities, and business development and hotel services. It adjoins the popular Yala national park.

Many people come to Katharagama for various things,,they ask something from god and if it is came true they come to prove that they are really pilgrimages who always with belief ..

there are many sub temples

Kiriwehera in Katahragama is one of best place for Buddhist pilgrimages ..

we are on our way to Kiriwehera

here we could see nice thing..there is baby elephant , and if you go 3 times under it's body, all bad evils on you will go away

Tissamaharama (Sinhala තිස්සමහාරාමය [ˈtissəmaˌhaːˈraːməyə]) is a town in south-eastern Sri Lanka. It used to be the capital of the Sinhalese Kingdom of Ruhuna as early as the 3rd century B.C. Only few buildings from that period can still be seen today. The large artificial Tissa Wewa lake, which was a part of a sophisticated irrigation system, also dates from that time. Today, the town mainly serves as a starting point for visits to Yala National Park and Kataragama.

the time was damn hot there..so we needed to have bath ..so why should we wait that Thisa wewa was over there , we walked for it

we were in hungry,..we decided to have our lunch near the Thissa lake..and there are many sellers with fry fishes

under the burning sun we had no idea about go where to next..we decided to go back to Hambanthota..we took Galle bus going via Hambanthota..

in side the bus we had good reputation for our traveler team,,

finely we came back to Hambanthota..but nobody wants to go out side..because it burned our skin and out side is like near the fire..i have never been in hot weather like that

we wanted to go for a Suriywewa Ground and see how it builds up..we took a bus for that near to Ground

but the way we were traveling is totally horrible ..its full of dust

we were unable to have any single snap of inside the ground due to some security reasons..
it's really sad that we couldn't show our pride to world by showing how this international ground built up..though we are Sri Lankan, they didn't allow

after those things we were waiting for a bus to Suriyawewa town..but there were very lack of buses..at that time Land Master came and he gave us a lift near to Suriyawewa

after played nice cricket match we drunk Kurumba

had a bath on water stream and in the night we had chat about blaa...balaa with **!@@!**

3rd day of our journey..the final day..we waked up on 6.30am am and get ready to come back to homes..but we didn't want to go home directly, because we travelers never lose the place which we have a chance to find out..because of that we decided to go to
Madunagala Hot water springs .

we had our breakfast at Suriyawewa

we went to Suriyawewa Bus stand for find out bus for us

as that day was a holiday we had to get another bus to go to Madunagala, and we took tickets to place called
"HATARAMAN HANDIYA"


"Visitors can reach here from A18 (Pelmadulla – Nonagama road) turning at 66-67 Km posts and proceeding towards Suriyawewa about eleven km" (sourse)

as we didn't have any transportation we thought to walk on foot..only 5km to walk, but our pack packs were heavy on that time,

is it too far?

Burning sun screwed us slowly ...at the time we saw this water stream..

in suddenly Tractor came towed to us and he stopped, we asked lift from him and that kindly person was also going through that Hot water spring place..so he gave a lift to us

Hot Water Springs at Madunagala

Madunagala Hot Springs is a wonderful creation of nature in all its natural beauty. These hot springs flowed into a natural water hole constructed from stone tanks and basins. Here, the hot water bubbles into the ponds and mixes with water. Warm water flows smoothly into the surrounding basins where visitors can enjoy the soothing water. These are located near the famous Buddhist hermitage at Madunagala.

we couldn't have a bath on those wells because it was prohibited on holidays because of crowd..

after watching that Hot water springs we moved on come back to main road , but we had to face same thing..it is we have to walk on that 5kms again..

However we walked more than 3Kms and sat on under the tree and having ice cream on that damn hot weather..

suddenly Police jeep came and stopped near us, and ask we want lift to Suriyawewa..we got in to jeep and the very first time we could travel on Police Jeep

we got down from main road and they were very happy about our traveling team

near the main road there was a small fruit shop

we were sweating due to hot weather and everybody wanted to have a bath..so we were lucky , nice water stream near that fruit shop and we could have bath very safely on that place

after having that awesome bath and had King coconut on that fruits shop , after that Chamikawp, prageeth119 and JAI went to Suriyawewa again and we took a bus to Ambilipitiya

we came to Ambilipitiya around 12.30 - 1pm and we were finding a place for having lunch , finely we found a great place called
AMBHA SEWANA - SAMAN BUFFET & CATERING

it is buffet type place and foods are awesome there..i guarantee that ask members in our team about taste of those foods..seriously that is the best buffet meal i have ever had..

sorry friends we couldn't take a photograph about that buffet , because we were in damn hungry

after having that awesome lunch we came back to Ambilipitiya bus stand, as we all wanted to go to office on next day we thought to travel on Kataragama-Colombo CTB bus which came on to bus stop..but the bus was full packed..

we couldn't find the seat, but there was a family,
and we got one seat from them given by girl

anyway the journey to Colombo is almost more 7hours

at least we returned back to Colombo at 6.30pm...

that is how our Hot and Dust Suriyawewa journey end..
it was so nice trip with nice experience and the main thing is brilliant brotherhood from people who met on online
