Don't listen to topology, If you wanna make a blog (self hosted) with your own domain, do with wordpress. You can do everything there.
Wordpress, Joomla and drupal all are content management systems, but the most user friendly CMS is wordpress. And it has all required plug-ins, widgets and etc for a blog.

namuth Joomla vala. blogs/forums/different type of index pages/video sharing pages/image sharing/article management system/file management system/security/ administrating system etc.. godak thiyenava.
eka nisa eka amaru igena ganna muladi. namuth godak varinava.

wordpress use karala blog witharak newei sites / forums ona deyak karanna puluwan ... its very easy to extend and hell of a lot of plugins

usually domain extension is nothing to do with SEO, its ok with SEO. But the problem is people tend to distrust .tk/ or .co.cc/ or .co.cz/ (free domains) as spam and useless sites. I do SEO for about 1 year and I can guarantee google page 1 ranking with any domain extension.

I guess then you gotta learn what you don't know already.
you didn't use DNS forwarding just URL redirection that's why u can see that ugly favicon ,they provide that feature with their the latest version.
infact any DNS forwarding is basically SEO (Search Engine Optimization) friendly.
whatever you include within the meta tags will be shown in Google.

so the "your description" part will be shown in Google/Yahoo or whatever search engine.

I have been using that cpanel host for couple of months and the reliability is 98% as I feel.
but u need to login into their forum in every month.
