The most authoritative "official" stances come from national scientific bodies that have reviewed the field's data over decades.
National Research Council (NRC, 1988): In a landmark study titled "Enhancing Human Performance," the NRC concluded that after 130 years of research, there was "no scientific justification" for the existence of parapsychological phenomena.
National Academy of Sciences (NAS): Most mainstream scientific academies categorized parapsychology as a "rejected science" because it lacks a cumulative body of evidence (meaning new researchers often can't build on the work of old ones because the original effects can't be found again).
