In February the Tata-owned Air India placed an order for 470 aircraft, while now IndiGo places a massive order for 500 passenger aircraft with Airbus beating Ar India.

A few weeks ago I flew AI from CMB-DEL then onwards a domestic flight DEL-SXR (SriNagar). The aircraft from Colombo was old, I flew business class, the cabin stinks (characteristic Indian smell), crap food (not that we wanted any food at 2 AM anyway), the sound and the rattle from the undercarriage was like it's about to give-way with wheels flying.
The domestic flight from DEL-SXR and back was on time and better than the flight from Colombo. Delhi airport was fine, less than 5 mins at the Immigration and after the baggage collection they asked us to skip the scanning and out within minutes.
On our return we spent about 5 hrs in the Air India Business Class lounge (too hot to think even going outside) - not the best run place but good enough. Plenty of drinks and food. Had a comfortable stay till the next flight.

No country in this world got developped dealing with neighbours. Neighbours have political issues with neighbours regarding many factors. India caused 30 years civil war and easter attack which slowed down our development. But an overseas ally does more than a neighbour. We have examples already.In 2005 our GDP capita was 1200USD and by end of 2018 before easter attack, it was 4200USD. china played a big role there. ( Those chinese funds should have used in more effective ways than having white elephant projects if honest politicians were there instead of rajapakse regim. ). And India is still underdeveloped and Income inequality is very high. It means majority of India is poorer than lower middle class Sri Lankan. India will have traps on us for their problems instead of mutual benefits.
