why are they throwing it to the ocean when they can recycle it ?

Even if they tell they will recycle they don't, so its up to us to not use them which will help to reduce it.

Currently, more than 300 million tons of new plastic is produced annually and less than 10% of it recycled.
Mass production of plastics, which began just six decades ago, has accelerated to creating 8.3 billion metric tons – most of it in disposable products that end up as trash.

Wooden straws tiyenawa eBay wala. I am thinking about buying those
it means we have cut down trees to make straws ne machan. just think we succeed and replace plastic straws entirely with wooden straws, just think how many trees we have to cut down for that. wooden straws aren't the answer for this issue. Best thing is to keep using plastic straws but always take steps to recycle them. recycling will not only save the environment, it will make things cheap as well.

The point of wooden straw is to keep it with you and reuse whenever wanted. Just like a lunch box instead of using lunch sheets.

And these straws are usually created using bamboo which is not hard to grow as I have heard.
