#LetUsNotForget, on a day like today in 1989, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), carried out a brutal attack on the village of Dutuwewa in Horowpathana, killing 37 Sinhala villagers. The terrorists who used firearms, swords and knives massacred these civilians, including 29 children, five women and one Buddhist monk. During the attack, the LTTE terrorists also burned houses, which meant that some villagers were burned alive. According to the eyewitness accounts, the terrorists had dumped the crying children into wells.
On the same day of the Dutuwewa massacre, the LTTE carried out another attack on the Singhapura village, a neighboring village of Dutuwewa. That village was attacked brutally with the use of sharp weapons. Six civilians were tortured to death, while seven others sustained serious injuries.
අපි අමතක නොකරමු.. අද ඔබට අප සිහිගන්වන්නට යන්නේ හරියටම අදින් වසර 15 කට පෙර හිත පිත් නැති කොටි ත්රස්තවාදීන් විසින් අහිංසක සිවිල් ජනතාව ඉලක්ක කරගෙන කරනු ලැබූ සාහසික ප්රහාරයක් පිලිබඳවය. 1989 පෙබරවාරි 11 වන දින අනුරාධපුර දිස්ත්රික්කයේ හොරොව්පතාන, දුටුවැව ග්රාමයට එල්ල වුනු මේ සාහසික කෘර ප්රහාරයෙන් අහිංසක සිවිල් වැසියන් 37 දෙනෙකුට සිය ජිවිත අහිමි විය. කඩු, කිනිසි, පොලු, මුගුරු අතැතිව පැමිණි ත්රස්තවාදීන් ඉතා කෘර ලෙස ගම්වැසියන් කපා කොටා ඝාතනය කොට තිබිණි. මියගිය 37 දෙනාගෙන් 29 දෙනෙකුම කුඩා ළමුන්ය. මිට අමතරව කාන්තාවන් 5 දෙනෙකු හා එක් භික්ෂුන් වහන්සේ නමක්ද ඝාතනයට ලක්විය. නිවාස ගිනිබත් කරමින් දේපල විනාශ කරමින් හැසිරුණු කොටි සාමාජිකයන්, ඇසින් දුටු සාක්ෂිකරුන්ගේ තොරතුරු වලට අනුව කුඩා ළමුන් ඝාතනය කර ඇත්තේ අසල ළිං වලට දමිමෙන්ය.
එදිනම මෙම ප්රහාරයෙන් අනතුරුව කොටි ත්රස්තවාදීන් විසින් දුටුවැව ගම්මානයේ අසල්වැසි ග්රාමය වන සිංහ පුර ගම්මානයටද කඩා වැදුනේය. එහිදී සිවිල් වැසියන් 6 දෙනෙකු ඝාතනයට ලක් වූ අතර 7 දෙනෙකු ඉතා බරපතල ලෙස තුවාල ලැබිය.
